I've been tagged by my sister to name my five favourite places to eat, and have discovered just like her that it is hard to pick only five! So in celebration of all my fave places to eat in the beach towns near where I live I've created a mini dining tour down and around the Bellarine Peninsula and the Great Ocean Road... take a scenic ride with me ...
Fave Places in Geelong ... Stop in for morniing Tea and a plate of homemade apple pie at the Wintergarden, or a bowl of fabulous fries and mayo and chilli sauce at the Wharfshed on the Waterfront and if you need to warm up a Cinnamon Chai Latte from Gobble in the East Geelong Village is a real treat!
Head down the coast to these wonderful eateries ...
Portarlington ...the Woodfire Bakery for fresh baked loafs of bread, lamingtons and traditional Vanilla Slices
Barwon Heads ... the Starfish Bakery do a fabulous cuppacino and At The Heads overlooking the water on the Pier have a beautiful fine Dining room with delicious Seafood on the Menu. I've celebrated a few wedding anniversaries in this spot!
Queenscliff ... a must stop for lunch is the Panache Creperie, with sweet and savory crepes and pancakes and lovely old fashioned service to match the town's gorgeous old buildinds and hotels.
Travelling along Great Ocean Road ... Stop in at the Tearooms at the Airey's Inlet Lighthouse for Tea and Scones, or Skinny Legs Cafe for a mean Chocolate Milkshake and once you reach Apollo Bay, the Bay Leaf Cafe is a must for Roasted Chicken, Dill and Mayonaise Sandwiches.
Thanks for coming on a scrumptious trip, I'm Hungry, hope you can make it for a real one some day soon!
